Clutch fits Hecht 947, 957, Makita DCS460, DCS461, DCS500, DCS501, DCS4600, DCS5000, DCS5121, DE5045 and Dolmar PS-460, PS-500, PS-4600, PS-5000 chainsaws, replacing part numbers 947000129, 123857-3 and 181180200. The centrifugal clutch is mounted directly on the crankshaft and consists of the clutch shoes and return springs. At idle the springs hold the shoes away from the clutch drum so the chain stays stationary; as engine speed rises, centrifugal force pushes the shoes outward to engage the drum and drive the cutting chain. Worn clutch shoes or broken return springs cause the chain to creep at idle or fail to disengage when the throttle is released. Fitting a replacement restores clean engagement and full chain control across the throttle range.
