Flywheel with metal pawls fits 4500 (45cc), 5200 (52cc) and 5800 (58cc) Chinese chainsaws and also Plantiflex, BBT, B&Q, Silverline, Sanli, Whitemoss, Skatco, Eckman, Timbertech, Tarus and MT-9999 chainsaws. The flywheel is keyed to the crankshaft and carries the ignition magnets that generate the spark timing signal as they sweep past the ignition coil. The integrated metal pawls engage the flywheel hub when the pull cord is drawn out, cranking the engine, and release automatically once it fires. Compared to the plastic pawl variant, metal pawls offer greater durability and resistance to wear under repeated starting loads. A flywheel with broken or worn pawls causes the starter to slip without cranking the engine, while a damaged flywheel affects ignition timing and spark output — replacing the complete assembly restores both functions.
