The crankcase gasket maintains the seal needed to draw in and compress the fuel-air mixture; the cylinder gasket holds combustion pressure; the muffler gasket contains exhaust gases and backpressure; and the carburettor gaskets stop unmetered air upsetting the fuel-air mixture.
