STIHL 038 MS380 Oil Drive Pump

Oil drive pump fits Stihl 038 and MS380 chainsaws. The 038 and its MS380 successor are mid-professional saws built for demanding work, where reliable chain lubrication is critical to protecting the guide bar and cutting chain under sustained load. The oil pump draws from the oil tank and delivers a metered flow of bar and chain oil to the guide bar groove via the crankshaft-driven rotor. A worn, cracked or seized pump body cuts off oil delivery entirely the bar rails overheat, drive link friction increases rapidly and the sprocket nose deteriorates. This is a model-specific pump profile, different from the pumps used on lighter Stihl consumer saws. Fitting a replacement restores full chain lubrication and protects the bar and chain from heat damage.
