Oil pump worm gear fits Husqvarna 61, 66, 162, 266, 268 and 272 and Jonsered 625, 630 and 670 chainsaws. Replaces part number 501513801. The worm gear is a helical drive component mounted on the crankshaft that meshes with the oil pump rotor to transfer rotational force and drive bar and chain oil through to the guide bar. When the worm gear wears or strips its teeth typically through abrasive contamination or prolonged use the oil pump loses drive and chain lubrication fails even if the pump body itself is intact. A worn worm gear is a common cause of oil starvation on these models and is often overlooked when diagnosing a dry bar. Replacing the gear restores the drive connection to the oil pump and resumes correct chain oiling.
