On/off stop switch fits Hecht 947, Makita DCS4600, DCS5000, DCS5001 and Dolmar PS-4600, PS-5000 chainsaws, replacing part numbers 947000101 and 975001230. The stop switch is the primary safety control on the rear handle, used to kill the engine instantly during operation or after completing a cut. A failed or intermittently faulty stop switch that does not reliably cut ignition is a safety hazard — the operator loses the ability to shut the engine down quickly in an emergency. A switch that sticks in the off position prevents the engine from starting at all. Either fault requires the switch to be replaced before the saw is returned to use.
